Brockville Angels Atom B Win Again!

The Brick’s Brockville Angels Atom B team won the 2011 West Durham Lightning Competitive girls hockey tournament.

 The Brick’s Brockville Angels Atom B team won the 2011 West Durham Lightning Competitive girls hockey tournament.  Round robin play was held on Friday February 11th, 2011 with the Angels winning their pool.  They played a close game against the Whitby Wolves and prevailed with a 4 – 2 victory.  Scoring for the Angels were:  Emma Caldwell, Kendra Beattie assisted by Emma Michalicka and Gracie Young, Lauren Kerans assisted by Alexa Muir and Veronica Cameron, and Cameron assisted by Claire Cushing and Shauna Morrell.  The second round robin game was a decisive victory over the Kingston Icewolves  7 – 0.    Scoring was well-balanced with 5 Angels hitting the net:  Beattie (2), Kerans (2), Cushing, Michalicka and Morrell.  Assisting for Angels were:  Muir (2), Cameron (2), Michalicka, Kerans, Young and Beattie.

By winning their pool, the Brick’s Angels advanced to the semi-finals early Sunday morning.  They managed to squeak-out a 3 -2 victory over the Wilmot Wolverines.  Michalicka found the twine twice for the Angels and added an assist.  Young netted a single goal and Caldwell chipped in with 2 helpers.  In the championship finals, the Brick’s Angels met their foes from up the St. Lawrence River – the Cornwall Typhoons.  On the game-winning  goal by Young, assisted by Michalicka and the insurance goal by Caldwell, the Angels won.  A solid shut-out performance by Alex Moulton ensured the victory.
